Wellness Wednesday - Organic PJ's

Today's Wellness Wednesday features the ever talented Amanda Evans, the creator of Cocoome Sleepwear.

If your children spend a good portion of the day playing around in their pj's than you have come to the right place. Cocoome is 100% pure cotton designed in Australia. The eye-catching element to these pajamas's are the simple graphics that are carried through from the babies sleepwear through to the older kids.

The designs of these pajama's have every organic element covered. The range is chemical free, soft to touch and does not include embroidery or plastic prints that children may find uncomfortable to sleep in.

Cocoome use the purest 100% organic cotton for all of their sleepwear.

Why organic cotton?.....Straight from the Cocoome website:

Organic cotton is more absorbent, the fabric lasts longer, there are no chemicals used in the growth and harvest of the cotton so it’s softer and safer for your baby or child and the environment.

Organic cotton production is free of these chemicals and is the safer option for the sleepwear that our children wear to bed.

The production of cotton has a huge impact on the world we live in and the world that we will leave to our children and grandchildren. By insisting on organic cotton and paying for garments that are fair trade you can change the world from the farmers to the environment and make it a better and safer place for all.

Organic cotton feels good on your skin and great on your conscience when your child is sleeping soundly in Cocoome Organic Sleepwear 100% organic cotton sleepwear for baby and child Australia.

When considering your next sleepwear purchase for your baby or child consider you child’s skin and the world’s health.

Trend Hunting Tuesday - Florence Eiseman for Saks Fifth Avenue

Trend Hunting Tuesday has arrived and boy do we have excitement today!

If the name 'Florence Eiseman' rings a bell with you than you would be familiar with her timeless and tasteful clothing, if you haven't heard of her get ready for some fashion inspiration.

Here is a little bit about Florence straight from their website:

Florence Eiseman was the first designer to bring fashion to children's clothing, introducing a new line each season, and the first ever to be featured in a major retrospective by an art museum. Florence never boasted that her clothes were beloved by children of royalty, leaders and luminaries. She would only say, 'We have a lot of notables'.

Florence Eiseman clothes are elegant and honest - because they're made that way. Our designs never skimp, and use only the best materials to create exquisite clothing for girls and boys.

'Children should look like children', Florence said. 'You should see the child first and not the clothes'.

Florence Eiseman has three lines, 'Florence Eiseman' which features expertly sourced fabrics and handcrafted details, 'Studio 342' which is a colourful collection for the young girl who wants to stand out beyond being trendy and 'T.F. Laurence which is the classic American sportswear for boys.

Now the next big piece of great new is that her collection is available from Saks Fifth Avenue which now ships to Australia!

Favourite Things Thursday: Art For Babies

Looking for a creative way to stimulate your babies?

We have put together a collection of fascinating babies books all with contrasting black and white images (and a splash of red). Many child-care experts believe babies are better able to see and recognise shapes when they are presented in black and white, just the thing for the eyes of the youngest babies!

All images and objects are familiar; a butterfly, a face, a leaf, an elephant, a dog or a balloon.

My personal favourite of all of the books is Apple by Nikki McClure. Here is a little about Apple:

Apple follows the life of an apple throughout the year, demonstrating the cyclical patterns in nature. The youngest readers will delight in following the journey of the bright red apple—the only splash of color in the otherwise black-and-white illustrations—as it travels from tree, to harvest, to snack, to compost, and finally to sprout. A single word complements each illustration, urging early readers to reflect on each stage in the apple’s life.
Apple is acclaimed cut-paper artist Nikki McClure’s very first book, originally self-published and sold in a limited edition of just 200 copies. Now, 16 years later, it is available in wide release, and fans will relish the chance to own the book that launched McClure’s signature style.

Books to look out for:
Apply by Niki McClure
Art for Baby by Various (illustrators)
Black & White by Tana Hoban
White on Black by Tana Hoban
Who Are They by Tana Hoban
What Is That? by Tana Hoban
Baby Animals Black & White by Phyllis Limbacher Tildes

All books are available from Barnes & Noble

This is the perfect way to bring creativity and contemporary art to your baby.

Wellness Wednesday: Organic Playmats

A friend of mine recently contacted me about play mats for children. It got me thinking about what was out there in terms of organic playmats that are good for the health of your children.

I came across a wonderful company, 'Ella Lou', who designs stylish options for the urban baby. Wanderlust City Playmats are designed and printed in the San Francisco Bay Area and they definitely reflect where they come from. What I love about these playmats is that they are designed to engage your child's imagination and encourage wanderlust! Your child can roll their cars (or trams) down Lombard Street, around the Embaracdero and through the Golden Gate Park; they can drive their taxi across the Brooklyn Bridge, visit the Statue of Liberty and play with the polar bears in the Central Park Zoo.

If this doesn't excite you enough than lets talk about how organic and healthy it is.....
screen-printed with non-toxic, water-based inks onto a heavy-weight organic cotton and hemp blend canvas, Ella Lou's playmats are durable and machine washable.

I think this one is for the parents and kids with it's stylish yet simple design and playful graphics!

Visit Ella Lou's website to check out their entire range of gorgeous products:
