Moody Monday: Minty Goodness

Welcome to 2014! I hope you all had a beautiful holiday with your family and friends. I am so excited to bring you a fresh new look of 'little lagom'. You may have noticed our interface has slightly changed to bring more interaction of the other social media platforms we have. So please follow us on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter for all of the latest updates and to follow our favourite images, Etsy finds and daily inspirational quotes.
This year 'little lagom' will now feature our favourite topics on particular days. Here is how we have set it up:
'Moody Monday' - we will be starting each week off with an inspirational mood board.
'Trendy Hunting Tuesday' - we hunt down the latest trends of the season.
'Wellness Wednesday' - dedicated to all things organic and general well-being for you and your bubs.
'Favourite Things Thursday' - we showcase our favourite things of the week.
'Foodie Friday' - our favourite kids-friendly recipes
Saturday and Sunday - 'Etsy Finds' - check out our Facebook page for our favourite Etsy finds.
We hope you like the fresh new 'little lagom' blog structure and if you have any ideas please feel free to send them through, we love hearing from you all.

We have put a mood board together to show several ways in which mint can be used. Mood boards are a great way to get the creative juices flowing. It is a great tool to always refer back to especially when you get 'idea-overloaded'.

I have been a little obsessed with the colour 'mint' that is trending right now. It's such a fresh colour and it's suitable for boys or girls at any age.

For a clean and whimsical look with a modern touch, mint looks great when teamed up with soft greys, white and timber tones. This colour scheme is great for nurseries and children's bedrooms.
For nurseries that like to indulge in a little more colour, mint is so versatile when combined with other pastel colours such as a blush pint pink and soft yellow.

What I love about mint is that it can really take on a contemporary or vintage theme which means this colour can grow with your bubs as they develop their own tastes and interests.
What do you think of mint? If anyone has used mint in their children's bedrooms please let us know (via Facebook) as we would love to see your creations!!!

dulux nursery inspiration

This week I was visiting the Dulux website for some colour inspiration when I stumbled across a section dedicated to creating the ideal nursery.

The website has various colour themes (to suit your taste) and shows you how to put it all together....easy!

Colour is a great way to create an environment for your baby to thrive. Whether it's a warm yellow, a calming green, or a neutral canvas for bright highlights, Dulux have all colours covered! The website is also a great tool to investigate the colour psychology behind your favourite colours and learn how to create amazing shapes like scallops and diamonds (as shown above).

ubabub - seriously cute kiddies furniture

I am so excited to be sharing this post with you today as I am seriously obsessed with Ubabub.

Ubabub was born when Melbourne parents Natasha and Daniel Dumais couldn't find suitable nursery furniture to suit their modern aesthetic.

This is the story from the Ubabub:

Ubabub (pronounced über-bub) is a range of Australian designed premium-end nursery and childrens’ products available throughout Australia, New Zealand and now in the United States.

Über stylish and practical, ubabub is a range of ultra-safe, durable and ecologically friendly cots, furniture and accessories. With a distinctly modern aesthetic, the carefully designed and constructed pieces not only add a streamlined modern edge to the nursery but also bring extra comfort and freedom to parents and babies.

What I love most about their range is how easily convertible the cot's are to a single bed for kids or a baby change table, genius!

To complete the room Ubabub has a range of affordable artworks perfect for kids rooms!

On a side note, I absolutely love the design and graphics of their website along with the photo shoot styling, oh so cute!

scandinavian design

I am HUGE fan of Scandinavian design. Even 'Little Lagom' is paying tribute to Scandinavian design as 'Lagom' means not too little not too much in Swedish. I like to think that my design style reflects this mantra, especially for this blog.

So with that in mind today we take a look at gorgeous Scandinavian design for children. Whilst the design style is rather minimalist the interiors still exude warmth and character with small pops of colour. What I love about Scandinavian design is that it really is timeless. Rooms in this style can really grown with your children.

homegrown talent - kate & kate

I love stumbling across true homegrown talent and that's exactly what I found when Kate & Kate appeared randomly searching the internet. 'Kate & Kate' specialise in creating the most beautiful graphic blankets and throws for babies, children, adults and the home.

This is a bit about the girls, straight from their website:

Kate & Kate is the brainchild of sisters in law Kate Pascoe and Kate Pascoe Squires (yes, we both have the same name – lucky one of us lives in Melbourne, the other in Sydney, otherwise things could get confusing…)

Launched in October 2013, Kate & Kate offers a range of beautiful blankets and throws, knitted from the softest, breathable cotton and free from harmful substances.

Fresh and contemporary, our design obsessions are clean lines, geometric patterns and graphic elegance.

Kate & Kate blankets and throws are oversized and incredibly generous. Designed with flexibility in mind, our blankets are the perfect size for babies, children, adults and the home. Our throws are just that bit larger, but equally as adaptable.

A little about us… Kate Pascoe has a background in fashion (retail, design, wardrobe – she’s done it all), while Kate Pascoe Squires is a communications specialist in the fields of restaurants, food and wine. We are mums, best friends and family.

Kate & Kate blankets and throws are finally here. To be enjoyed, with big love.

These throws and blankets are a great idea for Christmas presents.....or 'just because' presents.

Entertaining, peaceful & delightful

Creating the perfect the nursery for your child to sleep and dream in peacefully is important for all parents which is why a nursery mobile is an adorable addition to any child's room.

The mobile is the 'must have' baby nursery accent to hang above a crib. Mobiles create the perfect nursery addition by stimulating your child's imagination and providing enjoyment and whimsical visuals.

The mobiles as seen in the above image can be found at these stores:

stuck up - wall decals

Happy Friday peeps! The last blog post of the week is all about wall decals.

When I was researching for this post I came across the cutest wall decals for your children's room that can range for all ages. Wall decals are a great and economical way to brighten up a room and they are easily removed when you want to update your tots room. They can be reapplied!

Walls decals are fantastic if you are renting as they can be removed without any damage to the wall.

Etsy is a fantastic source for wall decals and if you are after something extra special Love Mae has absolutely beautiful fabric decals.

neutral nurseries

Say goodbye to the days where you were boxed in to designing a yellow or green nursery because neutral is in to stay.
Gender neutral nurseries are a great way of preparing for your bub to be if you are keeping the gender a surprise!

Neutral nurseries create a calm and peaceful ambiance for your new baby. While neutral nurseries lack the pop of colour they are rich in texture, pattern and layers. Grey lends itself beautifully to being the main back drop to most neutral nurseries with warm timber elements, cream and beige accents and off white soft furnishings to create a timeless and elegant nursery. Colour is added inherently in the toys and artwork that complete the nursery.
